Analyzing Dimensions Related to the Consequences of Love During Adolescence: A Qualitative Study

Abstract

Introduction and Aim: The quality of adolescents' emotional relationships plays an important role in shaping their positive social and emotional experiences. As a result, the present study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the dimensions related to the consequences of love during adolescence.

Methodology: This study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive from type of qualitative in terms of implementation method. The research population was educational specialistsof Qazvin province in the 2024 year, which according to the theoretical saturation principle, the sample size was considered 30 people, and this number was selected as a sample using purposive sampling method. The research tool was a semi-structured interview with educational specialists, which its validity was confirmed by the triangulation method and its reliability was obtained by the agreement coefficient between the two coders 0.88. The data of the present research were analyzed using the coding method in MAXQDA software.

Findings: The results of the present study showed that the consequences of love during adolescence had 23 concepts and 7 components in 2 dimensions of positive consequences and negative consequences; so that positive consequences included gaining experience for adulthood (with 4 concepts) and strengthening social relationships (with 4 concepts) and negative consequences included unhealthy dependence (with 3 concepts), distancing from family (with 3 concepts), hasty decisions (with 3 concepts), origin of delinquency (with 3 concepts) and regret (with 3 concepts).

Conclusion: According to the results of this study, love during adolescence has both positive and negative consequences. Therefore, it is necessary and essential for adolescents and their families to be aware of the consequences of love during adolescence.
