The Effectiveness of Secure Parenting Style Training on Parenting Styles in 6-Year-Old Preschool Children of Shiraz city

Introduction and Aim: Parenting styles, especially secure parenting, play an important role in children's behaviors. Therefore, the present research was conducted with the aim of determine the effectiveness of secure parenting style training on parenting styles in 6-year-old preschool children.
Methodology: This research was a quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The population of this study was parents of 6-year-old preschool children of Shiraz city in the 2021-2 academic years. Number of 68 parents after reviewing the inclusion criteria were selected using purposive sampling method and randomly assigned to two equal groups. The experimental group received 9 sessions of 60-90 minutes the secure parenting style training, but the control group did not receive any training. Data were collected using the Kinship Center Attachment Questionnaire (Kappenberg & Halpern, 2006) and analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance in SPSS software at a significance level of 0.05.
Findings: The results indicated that secure parenting style training significantly improved the positive adjustment/development, emotional reactivity, and negative behavior parenting styles (P<0.05), but had no significant effect on the distancing from caregiver support parenting style (P>0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results of this research, can be used the method of secure parenting style training to improve parenting styles, especially positive adjustment/development, emotional reactivity, and negative behavior parenting styles.
